We retained the services of Power Tone Communications, LLC for our annual Drum Major for Justice Advocacy competition. 

 

In less than a month, Doris Powers Toney developed a communications plan which included key messages, a press release, media advisory, fact sheet, Q&A and event remarks.  She also provided ‘mini’ media training sessions for participating students and an attorney advisor who were to appear on a local radio show. She anticipated the questions the media would ask and crafted the appropriate answers. The students were fantastic and complemented each other, while expressing their views.

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drum Major for Justice Advocacy competition received significant media coverage.  Doris was also able to leverage her relationships with local media which maximized coverage for our event.  We were happy and frankly amazed at what Power Tone Communications was able to pull off in such a short time.

Doris Powers Toney of Power Tone Communications, LLC developed a communications strategy for Michiganders for Obama. She wrote and distributed press releases, media statements and letters to newspaper editors. She coordinated media interviews of the Michiganders for Obama leadership team with local, state and national press.

Doris also developed and implemented communications strategies to brand the “uncommitted” vote. The document became the core of the Michigan “uncommitted vote” primary campaign. As a result, 40 percent of Michigan voters selected “uncommitted” when their candidates’ names were not on the ballot.
